General Notes: Husband - Samuel Barr
He was reared on a farm in Derry township, Westmoreland County, PA, where he lived all his life and engaged in farming and stock-raising. He resided on the same farm for over forty years, and in addition to it he owned two other good farms in the township. He was originally a whig and later belonged to the Republican party but took no active part in politics. He retained his eyesight remarkably well in his later years and could read and write without the use of glasses. He and his wife were consistent members of the Presbyterian church of Blairsville, PA.
