General Notes: Husband - James B. Barnes
He was born in Mercer township, Butler County, PA, received a common school education and was reared a farmer. In 1863 he purchased 100 acres of the old Barnes tract, which had passed out of the hands of the family, and erected numerous improvements. He was an elder of Harmony United Presbyterian church for more than twenty years, and politically, he was a supporter of the Democratic party.
