He was a graduate of the Pennsylvania State University and was employed in the engineering department of the United Natural Gas Company. Following World War II he entered the Boy Scouts of America professionally as a Field Executive and in 1956 again entered the electrical engineering field with United States Steel, from which profession he retired in July 1980. He and his wife then removed their home to Naples, Florida.
