General Notes: Husband - Alfred R. Nelson
He was reared and educated in Middlesex Township, Butler County, Pennsylvania, and as a young man worked in the oil country as a teamster. In 1897, he purchased a farm, a part of which was a portion of the old family homestead. He had nearly 100 acres, all of which was under a high state of cultivation and devoted to general farming.
He was independent in politics, giving his support to the candidates he believed best fitted for the respective offices, without regard to party affiliation. He served three years as supervisor of the township, and later as constable. Religiously, he and his wife were members of the Mt. Olive church at Adams. In fraternity attachment, he was a member of Evans City Lodge No. 817, I. O. O. F.
