General Notes: Husband - Dr. Harry Beecher Neal, M.D.

After completing his studies at the public schools of Indiana, Pennsylvania, and graduating at the State Teachers College at Indiana, he took a post-graduate course at the same institution. Dr. Neal matriculated at the University of Pittsburgh, attending the medical department of this institution from which he was graduated with the degree of Doctor of Medicine in 1906. The same year he returned to his birthplace and established himself in a general practice. Early in his career he, with Dr. George Simpson, established the first hospital in Indiana, which they operated for approximately six years. At the expiration of this period the present modern hospital was erected and Dr. Neal was elected a member of the staff. He was treasurer and for over thirty years served in some official capacity for the Indiana County Medical Society. In addition, Dr. Neal belonged to the Pennsylvania State Medical Society and was a Fellow of the American Medical Association. Socially he held membership in the Indiana Country Club and he worshiped at the Lutheran Church, for which he was a member of the council.
