General Notes: Husband - Alexander Barnes

He was reared on the family home-stead in Slippery Rock township, Butler county, Pennsylvania, and received a common school education. He worked in various places until the age of twenty-eight, when he purchased the old homestead, and resided there. Politically, he was one of the active Democrats in his township, and filled the office of school director. He was a member of the United Presbyterian church.
