He was born and brought up in Germany, whence he came to America in 1852, landing in Baltimore, Maryland. Later he came to Clarion County, Pennsylvania, and settled in Knox township, where he worked at his trade of blacksmith. His wife passed away in 1892. They were both Catholics. In politics Mr. Myer was a Democrat.
