General Notes: Husband - David Nickle
After his marriage in Scotland, he came to Beaver County, Pennsylvania, where the remainder of his days were spent.
He and his wife belonged to the Associate church, of which he was an elder.
He was a merchant in his native country. He and his wife had five children born in Scotland. They came to America in 1820, and settled near Frankfort Springs, Beaver County, Pennsylvania, where the old Dr. McElwee place was later located. They were members of the old King's Creek Seceder's church under Dr. John Anderson's charge. They subsequently moved to the northwestern part of the township.
He came from Scotland, in 1820, and located in Hanover township, Beaver County, Pennsylvania, on a farm on which his son Matthew was born. He purchased that property and lived on it two years, and then for a time rented another farm. He bought a farm in the northern corner of Hanover township, consisting of one hundred acres, which was left to his son, David, and was later owned by a son of David. He erected a fine house and barns, and cleared most of the land, devoting the closing period of his life to sheep-raising.
