General Notes: Husband - David Mumford

The exact date of his arrival in Crawford County, Pennsylvania, is not known, but it was prior to 1797. He was born in New Jersey, and emigrated from Washington County, Pennsylvania, to a farm in Tract 429, later owned by J. Hannah, near the center of Union township, where he remained engaged in clearing the land and till­ing the soil until his death. He had served in the Revolutionary war, was a Methodist, and an intelligent, prominent pioneer.

He was resident in Connecticut, from whence he finally made his home in Pennsylvania. During the War of the Revolution he served as a scout, probably from New Jersey.
