General Notes: Husband - Simon Ulman
He came to America about two years after the battle of Waterloo [ergo, about 1817]. After a short stay in Philadelphia, he returned to Berks County, Pennsylvania. After an extended business experience in Berks and Lebanon counties, and also in Pittsburgh, he located in 1840, in Franklin, Venango County. His reputation as a merchant extended over several counties. He later removed to Philadelphia, where he engaged in the wholesale dry goods business. [HVC 1879, 485]
He was a lieutenant in the Ba-varian army, was born in Wiesbaden, Ger-many, and in the early twenties of the nine-teenth century came to the United States. He located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where he was engaged in mercantile business. Later he continued for a time in the same business in Franklin.
