He was a partner with his father in the Athens Mills Company, one of the most important manufacturing enterprises in Meadville, PA, employing about forty hands, and making a specialty of the manufacture of doors, sash and window blinds. The mill was first started in 1868, by William Reynolds and William Thorp. After March 1, 1877, when Mr. Thorp sold out, he was a partner with his father and general business manager.
