General Notes: Husband - Robert McCulloch Barkley

He was born in Baltimore, Maryland, and moved to the town of Indiana, in Indiana County, Pennsylvania, in 1813. He lived there for several years, then moved in 1825 to East Wheatfield township, Indiana County, where he remained until 1838. In that year he came to what is now Buffington (then included in Wheatfield) township, where he built a house and settled with his family. The snow was three feet deep when he arrived at this place. He was a shoemaker, and continued to follow his trade after moving there, but he also set to work to clear his land and engaged in farming to some extent. This farm was later owned by his granddaughter, Mrs. J. A. Doty.
