General Notes: Husband - William Mortland
He was ten years of age when his parents came to Butler county. On attaining his majority, he settled on the farm now occupied by his son Newton, in Marion township, cleared and improved it, and resided there the balance of his days. He was a member of the Presbyterian church, was a Democrat in politics, and held various township offices during his residence in Butler County.
