General Notes: Husband - David Hough Woodward


He received his early education in the West Newton, Pennsylvania, schools, and after graduating from West Newton High School in 1917, prepared for his career at the Cincinnati College of Embalming. He then secured employment in the undertaking parlors of Bernard Volk, Jr., at McKeesport, where he remained until 1927. For the next three years he served as deputy coroner at the Allegheny County Morgue, and in 1930 opened his first establishment at Mt. Pleasant, remaining here until 1933, when he transferred his business to Monessen. He was a member of the State Board of Undertakers. He was a Presbyterian and a member of the Democratic party, and an active figure in the civic life of Monessen. He was a member of the Chamber of Commerce, Volunteer Fire Department and Crothian's Beneficial Society, and was affiliated with the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks.
