General Notes: Husband - Robert Boyd Porter
He received his primary education in the common schools until he had passed his seventeenth year, when, on March 13th, 1895, he entered the Jamestown Banking Company as clerk and bookkeeper, where he spent four and one-half years, or until October, 1899, when he entered the well known Spencerian Business College of Cleveland, Ohio. In 1900, after completing his business course, he entered the employ of the S. R. Cochran Lumber Company, located at Slades Station, Alabama. On September 1, 1901, he was tendered the position of cashier of the Jamestown Banking Company, at Jamestown, Pennsylvania, his old home.
Mr. Porter, in his political sentiments, was Republican, and firmly believed in the cardinal principles of its platform. In a religious sense, he was an active and influential member of the United Presbyterian Church at Jamestown.
