General Notes: Husband - Philip H. Stevenson
He learned the miller's trade, which he followed until 1851, when he opened the first general store in Moon township, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, at Moon; five years later he sold out. He then engaged in buying and shipping wool and looking after his farms.
He was twice nominated by the democrats for the state legislature. He was one of the Greeley electors, and was a delegate to the convention of 1888 at St. Louis, Missouri. He held the office of justice of the peace for eleven years and that of school director eighteen years. He and his family were members of the Presbyterian Church. [HAC 1889 II, 480]
He was a farmer and extensive fruit grower and wool buyer of Moon township, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania.
With his brothers he learned the milling business of his father in Washington County, Pennsylvania, but in early manhood became engaged in the wool brokerage business, with which he was connected during the after years of his life.
