General Notes: Husband - Alfred H. Barkley
He received a common school education, and after reaching his maturity, purchased the farm from his parents. In 1891 oil was developed on it, and thirteen wells were put down, with a total production of 200 barrels per day. Mr. Barkley was an adherent of the Democratic party, and was a member of Rustic Lodge, I. O. O. F., of Prospect. His wife was a member of the Presbyterian church, of which he was also an attendant.
