• Residence: : Washington Twp, Butler Co, PA. Soon after his father began farming he owned over four hundred acres of land, on which he made improvements. This farm was situated in the beautiful spot known as the "Glade," on the South Branch of Slippery Rock. His father erected a large barn, and a fine brick house, which was long the home of his family; also a tenement house on another part of the farm.
This homestead later consisted of two hundred and forty acres, and was owned by George W. Meals, a successful and progressive young farmer.
