General Notes: Wife - Margaret Piper
She was the subject of a charming description in the diary of the Rev. Mr. Fithian, a Presbyterian minister. "There is no one in the society," he wrote July 13, 1775, "but my little Wain that can tell you what is effectual calling. Indeed this little Wain is a lovely girl. She is an only child just ten years old. She seems to me to be remarkably intelligent; reads very clear, attends well to the quantity of words; has a sweet, nervous accent. Indeed I have not been so lately pleased as with this rosy-cheeked Miss Peggy Piper."
