He was born in Ireland, emigrated to the United States, and ultimately settled in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where for years he carried on an extensive business as a tailor. In the latter part of his life he purchased a farm in Franklin township, Westmoreland County, to which he retired and on which he passed the remnant of his days.
