He spent his whole life on the old home farm, where he carried on a general line of agriculture. In politics, he was affiliated with the Republican party. Beginning in 1899 he was township treasurer and a member of the School Board. He and his family belonged to the Presbyterian Church, in which he was a member of the Board of Deacons.
