General Notes: Husband - Camden Mitchell, Esq.

The foundation of his education was laid in the public schools of his native place, and he subsequently took an academic course at Clarion, Pennsylvania. His legal studies were begun in the autumn of 1868 in the office of Messrs. Jenks & Winslow, of Punxsutawney, and he was admitted to the Bar in the February term, 1872. He at once opened an office at Reynoldsville, and then practiced continually and successfully, becoming recognized as one of the leading attorneys of the locality. He not only did a large business in his own county, but his practice extended into adjoining counties. On the organization of the First National Bank at Reynoldsville in 1893, he was made its president. He was also an officer in the Reynoldsville Water Company. His work in the cause of education should be specially noted, as owing to the pressure of other interests he uniformly avoided public office except when called upon to serve on the board of school directors. Politically he was always a Republican, and he was a stanch friend of sound money and protection.

Beside the nine children listed, there were six more that were deceased before 1898.
