was educated in the public schools, and after leaving school obtained a position with the First National Bank, as messenger, and was promoted to the position of assistant cashier. He remained with this bank for nineteen years, and on January 16, 1910, was made president of the Third National Bank of Pittsburgh.
In politics he was a Republican; in religion, a Presbyterian. He was a member of the Pittsburgh Golf, and the Pittsburgh Athletic clubs.
