General Notes: Husband - Lyle W. Orr
He was fourteen years of age when his parents removed to Mercer, Pennsylvania, which was thereafter his place of residence. He was educated at the common schools and attended Allegheny College one year, then Washington and Jefferson College, from which he was graduated in 1888. He read law with the idea of practicing the profession. He became deputy county prothonotary, serving for two years; was county commissioner's clerk three years, and also filled the office of assistant corporation clerk, and still later was assistant cashier of the Pennsylvania state treasury, from 1895 to 1901. He became cashier of the Mercer County National Bank, which in 1902 was merged into the Mercer County Trust Company, when he became secretary and treasurer of the latter. In his political belief Mr. Orr was a Republican. He was advanced in Masonry to the Lodge of Perfection, and was a Knight Templar. In church connections he was a member of the Second Presbyterian church.
