General Notes: Husband - John T. Bard
He carried on the mercantile business in Centreville, Butler County, Pennsylvania, nearly all the time, from 1850, until his death. In 1860, he established the store which was later conducted by his sons. In 1873, he established the Centreville Savings Bank, of which he was President until his death, when his son, J. E., succeeded him in the office. He held local offices, was Justice of the Peace, and served one term as Prothonotary of the county.
He served as prothonotary of the county and was a Democratic candidate for Congress in his district. He was a member of the Democratic National Conventions that nominated Horatio Seymour and Samuel J. Tilden, and was a Presidential elector on the Greeley ticket, in 1872.
