Hempfield Twp, Westmoreland Co, PA - a farmer and dairyman

He was born on his father's farm. He purchased his own farm in 1899, which comprised seventy-one acres of excellent fertile land. He made a specialty of butter-making, and met with success in this line. He always kept ten cows-sometimes more-and used a cream separator of the most approved construction. He served his township as tax collector, and acted as town clerk, his term of office being two years.
