General Notes: Husband - James D. Wall
Penn Twp, Clearfield Co, PA - a lumberman and miller
He spent the first eight years of his life on the home farm, where his birth occurred, and then accompanied his father to Grampian and later to Bell Run. His educational privileges were those afforded by the common schools, and his business training was received under the direction of his father. In 1881 he took a trip through the West, and went to Colorado with the intention of engaging in mining there. He spent three years in the West, after which he returned to Pennsylvania and thereafter engaged in lumbering in Clearfield County. After his father's death he assumed the management of the business, and in connection with the manufacture of lumber in Penn township was associated with Isaac Norris in the ownership of a large lumber mill in Grampian.
Mr. Wall was a Republican, and one of the active workers of his party; he held the offices of school director and auditor. He belonged to the Friends Church, while his wife was a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church.
He obtained his education in the schools of Penn Township, Clearfield County, Pennsylvania, and remained at home assisting his father until after his own marriage, in 1879. He spent three years in Colorado and then returned to the old homestead and became manager of the mill and continued until its sale. Mr. Wall then purchased his own farm of Isaac B. Norris. As the land was already well improved he had little in that direction to do, but subsequently built a commodious and attractive residence. Mr. Wall was a charter director and a stockholder of the Curwensville National Bank.
Politically Mr. Wall was a Republican and he was frequently elected to public office. He served as school director and auditor, and for nine years was collector of Penn Township, of which he was also assessor.
