General Notes: Husband - William Rugh
He was reared and educated in his native place. As a youth he helped his father in the work and management of the old homestead, and as a reward for his service was given by his father a farm of one hundred and seventy acres in Clarion County. This land was heavily timbered, and he cleared, improved and resided on it during the remainder of his life. He was a Democrat in political convictions, until the founding of the Republican party, when he transferred his allegiance to that organization. He never aspired to public office of any description, but devoted all his time to farming and stock raising. Late in life, about 1853, he lost a leg as the result of rheumatism. He was a very moral man, never drinking or using tobacco in any form. He was a member of the Salem Evangelical Lutheran church, as was also his wife.
