General Notes: Husband - Charles H. Fogg

He had the advantage of an excellent education, attending the University of Maine, where he was graduated as a civil engineer in June, 1881. He came to Greensburg, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, in September, 1882, having accepted a position as assistant civil engineer in the Pennsylvania Railroad Company, and held this position for several years. He then formed a business partnership with W. W. Jamison, under the firm name of Jamison & Fogg, in general civil and mining engineering. This partnership was dissolved in 1903, and Mr. Fogg continued in the same branch of business alone, and worked up a very lucrative business. Later he associated himself with Morris L. Painter, and they did business under the style of Painter & Fogg.

He attended the grade and high schools of Biddeford, and after graduation from high school entered the University of Maine, pursuing a technical course, terminating with the graduating class of 1881 and earning the degree Bachelor of Civil Engineer. The same year he located in Greensburg, Pennsylvania, where he became engaged as civil engineer and coal mine operator, his interests becoming large both in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, and in West Virginia. He was a director of the Jamison Coal Company; vice-president of the Superior-Connellsville Coal Company; director of the Westmoreland-Fayette Coal Company, which he aided in organizing; and for a number of years was engaged in the lumber business as head of C. H. Fogg & Company. His real estate operations in coal-bearing properties were large, this being a line of activity separate from his coal-mining operation. He was a Republican in politics, but he never sought or accepted public office. He was a vestryman of the Episcopal church, Greensburg, belonged to the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, and was a member of Beta Theta Phi.
