General Notes: Husband - Henry Meyers
He served in the war for American independence. About the year 1806 he moved to the west-ern part of Pennsylvania, and settled in Richland township, Venango County (an area that later became a part of Clarion county), where he engaged in the milling business, which he carried on for a number of years. He was also a civil engineer, and was employed at different times in an early day in surveying lands in Venango and neighboring counties. [HVC 1890, 179]
He came from Hartford county, MD, to Clarion county, PA, in 1807, and built the Myers grist and saw-mills in 1817, and the one on Clarion River, below Alum Rock, in 1811. [HCC 1887, xlii]
He was born, presumably, in Pennsylvania, where the family seems to have been among the earliest settlers of Clinton, Lycoming and Dauphin counties. He served as first lieutenant in the war of the revolution, his commission being dated Sep-tember 14, 1778, and was mustered out on November 3, 1778 (see Pennsylvania Archives, series ii, vol. xiii, page 686).
He was twice married, the maiden name of one wife having been Sarah Strubel, to whom he was married near Lock Haven, Clinton County, Pennsylvania.
Another source gives the year of his death as 1845.
