General Notes: Husband - Ignatius Thompson
He and his wife were natives of eastern Pennsylvania, who came to Clearfield County at an early day, and there spent the remainder of their lives.
They came from Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania, to "The Ridges," Clearfield County, in 1810. Soon after settlement, he built a school house on his farm, and is said to have taught therein.
He served as a county commissioner 1832-1834. He was a Justice of the Peace and a well worn bible used by him for swearing witnesses was many years later still in the possession of a descendant. It was a King James translation. He was a Roman Catholic and his family bible, Douay version, was also in the possession of a descendant many years later.
He died in May, 1861. His will executed 18 October 1852 [sic] is recorded in Clearfield County.
General Notes: Wife - Mary Norris
She was a protestant and her children likewise. Her husband was a Roman Catholic.
