He came to America from Scotland in 1775. [JAHR, 11] He came in the year 1724/25. [JAHR, 12] He was the first settler to build a house in Highland Township, Clarion County, Pennsylvania.

He migrated from Scotland to America and lived a few years in Philadelphia, PA. He there married red-haired Jennet Watson, an Irish girl. They soon moved to Lower Bald Eagle Township, Centre County, where he transported iron ore, limestone, charcoal, and pig iron.
