General Notes: Husband - Dunning Robert McNair
Early in the married life of he and his wife removed to Louisville, Kentucky, where he was in Government service as mail contractor. His next residence was in Washington, D. C., where from March 17, 1853, to July 6, 1861, during the Fillmore and Buchanan administrations, he filled the position of Sergeant-At-Arms of the Senate of the United States.
Of their twelve children, only two lived to maturity, a son and a daughter.
