General Notes: Husband - John McMurray


He was born on the Atlantic Ocean, and grew to manhood at the family's new home in Pennsylvania. He married and three years later located at New Washington, Clearfield County. For some years he resided at Hegarty's Cross Roads, but later purchased a partially-improved farm of 160 acres in Knox township, known as the Wiley property. He added many improvements, clearing about sixty acres of it, and followed farming there during his active life, with the exception of a few years when he was engaged in mercantile business in Ansonville. His wife died at the farm in 1874, and two years afterward he sold the place and made his home with his daughter, Mrs. Wiley, at Ansonville, where he breathed his last in 1878.

He was a leading member of the Methodist Episcopal church. He was a Democrat in politics.

He was a native of Jersey Shore, Pennsylvania, and came to Clearfield County in 1845, locating in New Washington.
