General Notes: Husband - William McLean
He and his wife settled permanently in Mercer County, Pennsylvania, in 1798, purchasing a small farm in Salem Township from John Caughey, on which they lived and died. He was a mechanic as well as a farmer. In 1806 he was appointed justice of the peace by Gov. McKean, which office he held until his hearing became impaired. He held the position of class-leader in the Methodist Episcopal Church for nearly forty years, and was active in all the interests of the church.
He was one of the pioneer Methodist leaders of the locality, and took charge of the class at Salem when R. Roberts went to Baltimore, Maryland, to be ordained as bishop.
