General Notes: Husband - Robert Proudfoot
He and his brother, David, emigrated to America from Scotland about the year 1759, and settled in York County, Pennsylvania. Two of their brothers, Andrew and James, had preceded them to this country.
He was a farmer by occupation.
He settled on a farm in Hopewell, York County, Pennsylvania. His name is on the musterroll of Lieut. McKissick's company, organized in that county in the time of the Revolution. He married, but had no children. To an adopted son, Andrew Bennet, he willed his "plantation."
