Civil War: He enlisted in Company I, 4th Regiment, Pennsylvania Calvary, on 14 October 1861 at Franklin; on 12 October 1863, during action at Sulpher Springs, near Warrenton, Virginia, he was taken prisoner; taken to Andersonville Prison, Georgia; was admitted to the hospital at Andersonville on 21 October 1864 and died 26 October 1864.
