His entire life was passed on the family homestead, his education being obtained in the local schools, and he then cultivated the land that bore fruit under the labors of three generations of his name before him. His operations covered one hundred and twenty-one acres. He adhered to the religion of his fathers, the Presbyterian, and in political allegiance was a Democrat.
