General Notes: Husband - Amos Pierce

His name was Dr. Amos Pierce, who came from Monmouth County, New Jersey, and was known as a very successful cancer-doctor.

He was a farmer, and was known as cancer doctor, curing many of the worst cases, and with his wife settled in Jefferson township, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, where they both died.

He was born on a farm near Monongahela City, Washington County, Pennsylvania. He was a farmer, and in 1840 built a fine brick house on the McKillip farm which had been inherited by his wife. Later he bought ninety acres of adjoining land, on Peter's creek, and on this he lived until his death. He was a very successful man in the treatment of cancerous diseases, and his patients came from far and near. In politics he was a strong Republican, and was a leading spirit in local public affairs. His religious allegiance was given to the United Presbyterian Church, and it was largely owing to his personal efforts that the Jefferson United Presbyterian Church was erected. [GPHWP, 840]

General Notes: Wife - Deborah McKillips

She was the only daughter of her parents who lived beyond infancy, and as her only brother, James, died in young manhood, she was their sole heir. She was reared strictly in the faith of the Covenanters, and later joined the United Presbyterian Church.
