General Notes: Husband - Reuben McKinley McKelvey
He spent his life as a farmer. About 1850 he purchased a farm which was later occupied by his son James. He was a member of the Presbyterian church and was a Democrat.
He was born in the Ligonier Valley, and spent his life as a farmer. His estate, which he purchased in 1850, was later owned by his grandson, Earl Craig McKelvey. Mr. McKelvey was a Democrat and a member of the Presbyterian church. Both he and his father carried on an extensive business as wagoners on the old Pittsburgh pike, handling, among other things, stone for the Pennsylvania Railroad bridge at Latrobe and hauling material into Pittsburgh when the end of the line was at Beatty, Pennsylvania.
