He obtained his education in the pub­lic schools of his home district, and spent all his life on the farm where he was born, eventually owning the homestead, a fine tract of 150 acres. He was not only success­fully engaged in general farming, but acquired other business interests which he found profitable. He found coal upon his property, had three gas wells there in opera­tion, and did some teaming in addition to his other work.
