General Notes: Husband - James Rankin
He was reared on the homestead in Fairview township, Butler County, PA, attended the district school of his neighborhood, and adopted farming as his vocation. In February, 1864, he enlisted in Company B, One Hundred and Third Pennsylvania Volunteers, and served until July 10, 1865, when he was honorably discharged. He was a member of the United Presbyterian church, and was superintendent of the Sabbath school. In politics, he was a Republican, and was assessor, supervisor and collector in his township.
