General Notes: Husband - James McGarvey

He attended the public schools in Washington Township, Armstrong County, PA, and assisted his father on the home farm until his marriage, after which he took his bride to Butler County and settled in the vicinity of Parker, where he followed teaming for a few years. In 1873 he moved to Millerstown, where he resided for twelve years, and then bought a farm in Fairview Township. He conducted that farm for some twenty-one years, retiring in 1903, at that time purchasing a fine residence property at Chicora, where he made his home. He carried on a dairy industry and nominally supervised the farm, which was then operated by his son, Charles.
