General Notes: Husband - George A. Mowry

He received a common school education and worked on his father’s farm until his marriage. He then located in Pymatuning Township, Mercer County, PA, where he continued in agricultural pursuits for six years. This experience was followed by a year’s farming near Sharpsville and two years at Five Points, when he finally located on the old Mowry homestead, which had been established by his father in the early period of the nineteenth century. In addition to carrying on farming operations of a general nature, he operated a small dairy and also made a specialty of garden truck and market supplies. He took an active part in the promotion of an advanced public school system, both from the standpoint of sound public policy and from the viewpoint of an American of family. In his religious faith he was a Presbyterian.
