General Notes: Husband - Joseph Fulton McFarland
He attended the common schools, academies in Florence, Uniontown and Canonsburg, and finally Washington and Jefferson College. Besides his early farm life he was engaged in surveying in Allegheny County and as a superintendent and bookkeeper at the Uniontown Woolen Mills. He was admitted to the bar of Washington County, Pennsylvania, Oct. 14, 1868, where he commenced to practice.
