He was early trained to agricultural pursuits, and always followed that vocation. After marriage he settled on the home farm.
Politically Mr. Provines was an active Democrat, although not a strict partisan. He was an earnest member of the United Presbyterian Church of Burgettstown for many years, and was one of its most liberal supporters.
