He came to Canoe township, Indiana County, Pennsylvania, in 1808, settling on what later became the Agnes Braughler farm. Two years later removed to Jefferson County, locating about two miles below Punxsutawney, on a tract known as the Hughes farm. Here he manufactured pottery ware for several years.
