General Notes: Husband - Alexander McCandless

In 1772 Alexander McCandless, the pioneer of this family, emigrated from Glasgow, Scotland, to America. He located for a year in Philadelphia, and coming thence to western Pennsylvania, to what is now Findlay township, Allegheny County, took up 450 acres of land. He followed farming through life.

He was the father of four children, Alexander being the youngest.
