He came from Germany to Carlisle, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania, and afterwards removed to Westmoreland County. [BHCWC, 350]

He came from Germany about 1808, settling in Carlisle, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania. He was a tanner by trade. From family records it appears that he took little part in either politics or religious work. [HWC 1906 ii, 71]

He was born in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, and was, as his name denotes, of German ancestry. He removed to Ligonier Valley, Westmoreland County, where he appears to have passed the remainder of his life. In politics he was a Democrat, and in religious belief he inclined toward the doctrines of the Presbyterian church. [ONW, 94, 1097]
