He attended school until he was sixteen years of age, when he commenced to assist his father in managing the home farm. At the age of twenty-one the young man took the entire management of the farm and estate. The farm which was known as Prospect View obtains its name from the fact that it lies in such a commanding and picturesque position and commands a beautiful prospect for many miles around.
